Welcome to The Arlington Bee Initiative
The Arlington Bee Initiative is offering locals this: Bee homes, ranging in size and cost, using local reclaimed wood, to further decrease our eco-load. The price of your Bee House helps build the next Bee house, or procure supplies when appropriate reclaimed products are not available for use. Our small Bee Hotels start at $5.
That is it, to help your neighborhood flourish! Our larger Bee Resorts start around $15. No two Bee Hotels are alike. They are as different as the reclaimed products we make them from, and will attract many different species of non-stinging bees. And you do not have to worry, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets are not interested in these sorts of housing!
- To increase the population of the native bee population through Arlington County, Virginia and the surrounding area.
- To educate people about the problems facing native bees and why they are vitally important.
- To advocate on their behalf since they don’t talk very much.
- To help people realize that is isn’t necessarily about saving the world, but to make the one you live in better.
Building a Better Tomorrow
Each hotel comes with directions on how to care for and mount your new bee hotel, as well as annual maintenance, which is pretty minimal. Local delivery only. Any shipping must be discussed on a case by case basis. Please contact Arthur with any orders and questions!.
Why is this Important
Bees are a vital part of our ecosystem. Without them we wouldn’t have trees, food to eat, flowers to look at, and so much more. As you have heard, Bee populations are on the decline throughout much of North America. It isn’t just honey bees, but the main pollinators of our food: native bees. Native Bees are non-stinging bees like mason bees and leaf cutters. They are what help our gardens grow and produce amazing flowers and veggies for us to enjoy year after year
